Certain nutrients have been scientifically shown to support the body during times of high stress and anxiety; they include: magnesium, vitamin B6, iron, and fiber. This is my breakfast of comforts, and some mornings, this is just what I need to get by day started!

I was inspired to post this very basic breakfast to show how – even in times of high stress – we can still find ways of nourishing the body with whole foods. This breakfast hits all four of these amazingly supportive nutrients. Plus, it’s super comforting and yummy!

Why are these nutrients so important?

Magnesium – regulates neurotransmitters in the brain, including serotonin

Vitamin B6 – low levels are associated with panic attacks

Iron – low levels are a well-known trigger for anxiety

Fiber – feeds the bacteria in your gut (aka your second brain) to produce short chain fatty acids which help reduce anxiety symptoms. Fiber also helps balance blood sugar, which in itself, helps to manage anxiety symptoms.
