There’s nothing like a little energy bite to get you through the afternoon! If you’re a “bite” fan, like me, you might want to check out my Raw Carrot Cake Bites, Coconut Brownie Bites, No-Bake Collagen Bites, and my Power Bites.

Energy bites are super easy to make. They’re made with ingredients most people already have in their pantries like dates, figs, raw nuts, seeds, nut butter, oats, cocoa, and honey.

So what makes these energy bites extra special?

  • Red superfood powder which includes beet, pomegranate, goji berry, blueberry, cranberry, and raspberry. Antioxidant-rich super “red” foods are great for gut health, reducing inflammation, and glowing skin.
  • Hemp hearts (hulled hemp seeds) which are rich in GLA (gamma linolenic acid), an omega-6 fat with anti-inflammatory and hormone-balancing properties. Hemp hearts are also a complete protein which helps to balance blood sugar.
  • Raw cacao which is the purest form of chocolate and an amazing superfood. Unlike cocoa, cacao is raw and rich in antioxidant that protect the cells from premature aging. Cacao is rich in minerals (potassium, magnesium, iron, and calcium). Cocoa is a processed food and roasted at high temperatures which ends up destroying a lot of its raw benefits. It provides little to no nutritional value.

Like all of my energy bite recipes, these are perfect to make ahead and keep in your fridge or freezer for healthy snacking in the afternoon or any time in the day!

Chocolate Super Berry Bites

Servings 16 bites

Ingredients

  • 18-20 pitted dates (about a cup) can use 8-10 Medjool dates instead
  • 1/4 cup hemp hearts
  • 3 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 1 scoop red superfood powder I used Prairie Naturals brand
  • 2 tbsp dairy-free mini chocolate chips I used Enjoy Life brand
  • 1 tbsp warm water add if mixture seems to dry for rolling
  • 1 1/2 tbsp maca root powder optional

Instructions

  • For pitted dates, let them sit covered in warm water for about 30 minutes. This helps them more moist and easier to come together. (You don't need to do this step if you are using Medjool dates.)
  • Add remaining ingredients into food processor and process until mixture comes together nicely. You may need to add a spoon or two of warm water if the mixture is too dry.
  • Using a tablespoon measure, roll balls and store in fridge. Enjoy!!
